A journey of discovery through the most beautiful art from private collections.
Discover the hidden treasures of contemporary art from Europe, Africa, America and Asia in My World , the book accompanying the exhibition of the same name in Singer Laren, compiled by art critic and curator Hans den Hartog Jager. This book takes you along the masterpieces from some of the most important private Dutch collections.
In an introductory essay, Hans den Hartog Jager gives his personal vision of contemporary art from all corners of the world. Together with Marjolein Geraedts and Yvonne Brentjens, he dedicates a short biography to each of the participating artists. My World is a journey around the world in 192 pages: from portraits that hold up a mirror to impressive views of the universe. No matter from which perspective you look at art; it does the same for everyone: it expands your world, invites you to look and think beyond the everyday world.
Hans den Hartog Jager: "My World is about creating your own world. Artists do that through their paintings, sculptures and photographs. But collectors also build a self-portrait with the art they add to their collection – the choices they make reflect their taste, their personality, their past."
