The figures are also a pose reference to the twinned lovers in Derek Jarman’s The Garden. They form a sort of infinity symbol and are completely oblivious to the destruction just beyond the wall. The book has the quilting pattern for the quilt in the corresponding painting. A double wedding ring quilting pattern. The guitar will have one snapped string.
