Labour of Care is an exhibition that voices the experiences and emotional realities of midwives, mothers and maternal healthcare workers.
Developed in partnership with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), Labour of Care brings together artworks that explore care, labour and emotional resilience at the frontline of maternal health. Offering insight into the realities of working within maternity services at a time of increasing pressure on the profession, the exhibition brings together the work of poets, established artists and healthcare professionals to create a rich and emotionally resonant landscape. Together, these perspectives consider care as both an intimate act and a wider social condition.
Labour of Care is on view at The Whitworth Gallery, University of Manchester (UK) from 1st August 2026 to 29th August 2027.
