Caroline Walker's "My Bottles and Pumps", 2024 acquired by Pallant House Gallery

GRIMM is pleased to announce the acquisition of Caroline Walker's My Bottles and Pumps (2024) by Pallant House Gallery, Chichester (UK).

Originally painted for the exhibition, The Shape of Things: Still Life in Britain at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, in 2024, and later featured in Caroline Walker: Mothering, in 2025, the work presents a poignant meditation on the realities of contemporary motherhood. Through sterilised baby bottles, pump valves and silicone teats, Walker captures the tenderness, exhaustion and repetitive rituals of early parenthood with remarkable honesty and care. Described by the artist as a self-portrait, the painting draws from Walker’s own experience after the birth of her second child, transforming an everyday domestic scene into something deeply intimate and affecting.

The acquisition reflects Pallant House Gallery's ongoing commitment to championing the work of women artists within the collection, joining works by artists including Sonia Boyce, Barbara Hepworth, Lubaina Himid and Rachel Whiteread.

This acquisition was made possible through the generous support of Mr Shachar Samuel and the Arts Council England/V&A Purchase Grant Fund.
