GRIMM is pleased to share that A Place To Rest (2025) by Hettie Inniss has been acquired by the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum (UK). The work is currently featured in the museum’s exhibition UNVEILED, on view from February 21 through June 6, 2026.
As part of the Collection's continued move toward broader representation and public invovlement, the selection of Inniss' work was another example of opening up the decision-making process. Selected from her solo exhibition The Waiting Room, presented at GRIMM, Amsterdam (NL), earlier this year, Inniss' work offered a fresh counterpoint to the collection's historical emphasis on the figurative. It introduced a new kind of emotional abstraction – generous, sensorial and open to interpretation.
"As someone from Rugby, I feel strongly that our community must have a voice in shaping its own cultural heritage. This collection belongs to the people of today and tomorrow, and it should reflect who we are and what we aspire to. Involving residents in the acquisition process fosters pride, ownership and a sense of belonging. To play a part in this remarkable story of regional collecting is both humbling and deeply rewarding."
