Caroline Walker is featured in group exhibition Mama: From Mary to Merkel at Musuem Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf (DE), currently on view from March 12 – August 3, 2025.
A comprehensive survey of what it means to have, become or be a mother, the exhibition focuses on the societal expectations around the universal language of motherhood and its reflection in art, culture and everyday life. On display are approximately 120 works in painting, sculpture, video installation and photography spanning from the fourteenth century to the present day. Connections between the works reveal themes, that explore both the versatility and variety of depictions of mothers, which are continuously being appropriated, reinterpreted, disputed and celebrated.
