"Spindrift" (2023) by Francesca Mollett acquired by the Kröller-Müller Museum (NL)

We are pleased to announce the recent acquisition of Francesca Mollett’s Spindrift (2023) to the Kröller-Müller Museum in The Netherlands. The Kröller-Müller is home to a world-class collection including masterpieces by Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso, and Piet Mondriaan and others. The museum also presents key examples of De Stijl and Futurism, alongside works by leading contemporary artists.

Mollett makes abstract paintings that react to space and context, often taking their starting point from organic subjects rendered so that their details dissolve into nebulous and fluctuating forms. Her works capture reflections of light and surface through a fluid yet precise process, with compositions evolving through observation, analysing the shifting passages of paint as tension between luminosity and solidity develops.

Coming up in May 2024, GRIMM New York will present Mollett’s first major US solo show from 10 May - 22 June.
