Commissioned by Prospect New Orleans for "Prospect.6: The Future is Present, the Harbinger is Home", 2024–25

Juanetes refers to bunions, a painful swelling on the foot, and serves as a metaphor. The scene shows Kameya’s own family home, typical of many Peruvian households, with laundry racks that dominate the space. A doctor performs a cosmetic, rather than medical, operation to a bunion amid the hanging clothes. The sheets partially conceal the scene, but offer clues about what life inside these homes is really like. This scene speaks to the focus of appearances. The homes often have their façades painted to appear well-kept, while the sides and interiors remain deteriorated.
