Grimm Fine Art proudly presents the first exhibition of the Berlin-based artists Michael Kalki, Wawrzyniec Tokarski and Gregor Hildebrandt in the Netherlands. The show runs from 22 November 2008 until 3 January 2009.

Michael Kalki (1969, Ravensburg)

Kalki is known for his expressive paintings with the central theme of relationships between individuals and their combined relationship with the world they inhabit. He graduated in 1998 from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and has since followed different postgraduate courses at institutes like the Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing. Last year his second solo exhibition was held at Galerie Jan Wentrup in Berlin.

Wawrzyniec Tokarski (1968, Gdansk, Poland)

His paintings focus on the typographical element of emblems, logos and brand names. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, the State Academy of Fine Artis in Stuttgart and the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. He received the DAAD-preis and the Förderpreis des Kulturreisses der Deutschen Wirtschaft, (BDI), Köln in short succession of each other. Tokarski has exhibited in many European cities including Luxemburg, London, Paris, and Berlin.

Gregor Hildebrandt (1974, Bad Homburg)

Hildebrandt’s foto’s, installations and objects are based on music, film, literature, and history. He uses magnetic audio and videotapes that he glues together to make his ‘soundpictures’ which refer to the music of Hildegard Knef, Wilhelm Furtwängler, and The Cure. In his work, he transforms fragments of sound into a visual experience. Hildebrandt has exhibited around the world in Milan, Paris, Berlin and New York amongst other cities.
