Combined elements in Settlement II represent the “Cross of the road” or the “Cross of the traveler," a makeshift monument used for evangelizing during the colony which consisted of erecting crosses over the sacred places of pre-Columbian cultures. The elements of the cross are symbols that represent the Calvary of Jesus and the way to the resurrection. In this case, the t-shirt is a combination between the outfit worn by the chicha band, The UFOs and the illustrations that appear in “Abraham’s book”, that appeared in 1962 and was erroneously assigned to the French scribe Nicolas Flamel. The image shows an alchemical figure, the crucified serpent that represents the death of primitive unconscious knowledge. The items that accompany the outfit are a pack of Nevado cigarettes, Coca-Cola and Fanta bottles; reused as containers for other liquids, such as juices and Chicha de Jora (artisanal fermented liquor).
